TEAM OF THE WEEK: Season Ten, Round FOUR - March 22
JAKE SPILLANE
Team: Raymond Terrace
Result: Raymond Terrace 8 def. by Rutherford 9
Why: Signed at the beginning of the season to replace outgoing players from old campaigns, Spillane has proven himself early on in the tenth season as he stared in the Terrace win over close-rivals Rutherford. The northern derby was eventually settled against Raymond Terrace, but Spillane had an integral place in the 8-2 scoreline in the second half that just wasn't enough.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
DAVID FRANKLIN
Team: Rutherford
Result: Rutherford 9 def. Raymond Terrace 8
Why: Franklin may have struggled in the second half, as Raymond Terrace put 8 points on the team, but his first half performance as part of the 7-0 crushing cannot be ignored, and the club did eventually walk away with the victory despite their second half capitulation. The spry forward has proven that last year's career-best form wasn't a flash in the pan, as he confirms his second Team of the Week appearance in just four weeks.
Second appearance in the Team of the Week.
JAKUB LUNARZEWSKI
Team: Waratah
Result: Waratah 6 def. Belmont 5
Why: If Lunarzewski's performance that earned him a spot in TOTW1 was a strong outing, his near-perfect match as Waratah just pipped Belmont at the post may have been his best performance in seasons. Spurred on early by two duels against Belmont's Liam Janczuk, the two battled throughout the match for dominance, but vocally and with their outplays, and the Waratah striker ended the match on top.
Second appearance in the Team of the Week.
LIAM JANCZUK
Team: Belmont.
Result: Belmont 5 def. by Waratah 6
Why: Although Belmont slipped late to let the 'Tahs take the competition points, it wasn't through lack of effort on Janczuk's part as he battled across the fixture with Waratah's Jakub Lunarzewski. The two pushed each other to play the best dodgeball of the round from all fixtures, and their one-on-one struggles were a highlight within themselves.
Second appearance in the Team of the Week.
HARRY GIBSON
Team: Cooks Hill
Result: Hamilton 5 def. by Cooks Hill 6
Why: There's a reason the league has taken to calling Gibson "Mr. Dodgeball", and although the Hamilton performance looked tepid in the face of a resurgent Cooks Hill, Gibson's dodging prowess and long-ranged snipes didn't fail him. Multiple times he shone even as his team struggled to string shots together, and he earns his spot regardless of the defeat.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
LEWIS FOOT
Team: Cooks Hill
Result: Cooks Hill 6 def. Hamilton 5
Why: Foot put in an unplayable performance as he toyed with the defending premiers, and linked well with the team to create catches, finish them himself and even score a number of key eliminations early on to put Hamilton on the back foot (pun not intended). The Cookers all-rounder controlled the tempo of the later stages of the game, and kept his team in the match with a tide-changing throw in the 8th round to seal the win.
Second appearance in the Team of the Week.
