TEAM OF THE WEEK: Season Ten, Round TWO - March 9
PETER GOLDTHORPE
Team: Raymond Terrace
Result: Raymond Terrace 10 def. Cooks Hill 3.
Why: Goldthorpe made the first Team of the Week for his league-best dodges, but this week he earns a spot in the round's best for his command of the game in the 10-3 romp of the past season's grand finalists. Although the Cookers have struggled in the opening weeks, the Terrace was able to take full advantage and shut them down early off the back of Goldthorpe's captaincy calls.
Second appearance in the Team of the Week.
DAVID FRANKLIN
Team: Rutherford
Result: Rutherford 5 def. by Waratah 7
Why: It may not have been a play that won the match, but a 1-on-6 outplay automatically earns any player a spot in the Team of the Week. Last round we saw Foot take down four in the Hamilton-Waratah match, and this time the 'Tahs choked the point again as Franklin scored five eliminations, and forced one failed catch to push Rutherford back into the match.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
NATHANIEL KING
Team: Waratah
Result: Waratah 7 def. Rutherford 5.
Why: King is a new signing for the long-standing Waratah squad, and after a week settling into the team he's proven he'll be a vital pick-up as the 'Tahs look for their second premiership. King scored a number of eliminations and even bagged two catches to control the middle of the eventual 9-7 victory, steadying the ship even as other 'Tahs players struggled to maintain focus.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
GEORGIA GRAHAM
Team: Waratah
Result: Waratah 7 def. Rutherford 5.
Why: Graham was a part of the 'Tahs' fifth season title win, and she proved why the squad has pushed for more premiership glories in recent years - last second catches and even a two-player swing off a no-look grab saw Graham shine as Waratah claimed their second straight two-pointer of Season 10.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
ISAAC MCINTYRE
Team: Hamilton
Result: Hamilton 9 def. Belmont 7
Why: Early eliminations from McIntyre in the Hamilton-Belmont clash wouldn't normally collect a Team of the Week spot, but it was the Hamilton captain's combinations with teammate and older brother Alexander McIntyre that locked his spot - as the match came down to three sudden-death deciders, the two executed a series of strong hikes to bag the rapid-fire points and pull the defending champions ahead for their second win of Season 10.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
ALEXANDER MCINTYRE
Team: Hamilton
Result: Hamilton 9 def. Belmont 7
Why: Always dangerous down the wings for Hamilton, McIntyre's late contributions were key to the match-up. Although younger brother Isaac McIntyre was able to put the finishing touches on the sudden-death hikes, McIntyre executed two of the three chances to perfection with both a passed ball and a blocked shot to secure the late points, and the win.
First appearance in the Team of the Week.
